I am a Canadian engaged to a American. I have begun the uphill battle of sorting all this out and my heart breaks. My fiance has had a bad run with employment and well...does not meet the requirements. I have looked into a family member sponsor and unsure how that all works out. Basically we are too poor to do this. Yes I have heard every nasty comment out here so please, you dont need to say it. No need to kick a dog when they are down ok? I just wonder if anyone out there is in the same boat. I never planned on my fiance; both of us given up on the idea of love; then met one another. I traveled to see him for over a month and it was wonderful; we so much want to be married. But to say no cause your like many out there lost their jobs due to the economic downturn? We are not bums; I am educated and have universal skills...I dont know what to do anymore. Anyone been in the same boat? Id love to hear your experience...maybe there is hope. Oh yes we are both looking for jobs and I am currently upgrading my skills. Hope to hear from you soon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3138713814856861648.post-49455947160624716272013-08-06T21:22:19.999-07:002013-08-06T21:22:19.999-07:00Hey Paul,

I filled out everything and getting ready to submit the documents Next week. I know this is considered a Fiance visa but I have not officially given my girlfriend a engagement ring because I don't want to send it via mail. We have been doing this for the past 3 years and have seen each other last year. We both decided to go take this further and get married. I have not yet purchase a ring. She is from Germany and I live in the US. I was hoping to either travel to Germany in December and give her the ring or wait till she comes here after the K1 visa goes through. Do you think her not having an official engagement ring will deny our petition, or affect the process. In our documentation we stated that we both agreed on getting married. Any feed backs will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3138713814856861648.post-50504017784883782152013-06-01T08:55:43.543-07:002013-06-01T08:55:43.543-07:00Wow this is an AMAZING blog! I am an American bringing my fiancée over from the UK and it has been so stressful! The waiting is the worst, it took CA 7 months to process our application, we just got notified that it's on its way to the NVC. Keeping our fingers crossed that we will get the visa on time for our wedding this October! Your lovely blog has been VERY helpful. I'm a US citizen, my fiance is Togolese but lives in (and is a carte sejour holder in France) so he requires a Visa to come to the US. We are worried that once we file the I-129, he will be denied a tourist Visa to come to the US. We received the first notice that the forms were sent to the Vermont Service Center in Feb 24, 2012. It has been 7 months now and we haven't heard anything from them. Last month that my fiance called last 3 weeks ago, they said that the dates being processed still on Feb 16, they admitted that they are already out of the processing time but they said that they are working on it. It's October now and we are going to 8 months this 22. I am losing hope. We signed up for the updates via email, however, we haven't receive any email nor when we checked the status in the USCIS site, it's still in the Initial Review.

any idea?
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3138713814856861648.post-56475903429599054442012-09-28T13:20:03.192-07:002012-09-28T13:20:03.192-07:00I really don't know. My partner have decided to make the move, but are still deciding on the when part, meaning we haven't even started the process... As a school teacher, it's a lot easier finding a job at the start of the school year in the States, than it is finding one in the UK...

One quick question- with regard to the proof of relationship, do you think the visa that I am currently on in the UK would suffice as proof? As we had to submit similar proof for that?
Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04599989763902989928noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3138713814856861648.post-42867588345970653822012-08-14T16:34:18.050-07:002012-08-14T16:34:18.050-07:00Congrats on your approval, Anon! They stated that the Vermont Service Center is roughly 1 month behind on processing and the last one completed had a submittal date of 1/16/12 (Our submittal date is 2/16/12). I was told to call back in mid August if we do not receive a response by then. They also told me that after the USCIS decision, the rest of the process can take up to 90 days (depending on the country-they said ours may be quicker as he is in Canada), but assured me that he would still be able to come on a normal travel visa and stay for up to 6 months (which means he will be here for our baby to be born no matter what). Hope that helps everyone. I will post updates if I hear anything.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3138713814856861648.post-78815522497498581382012-07-22T17:05:28.289-07:002012-07-22T17:05:28.289-07:00Hi Anonymous, any news on your docs?
